Awardees
In an effort to improve breast cancer services for the state's uninsured population through the Georgia ACTS (Access, Care, Treatment and Services) Breast Cancer Grant Program, the Georgia Department of Community Health (DCH) awarded $996,939 to 12 community organizations in 2010. Part of the statewide Breast Cancer License Tag Fund Initiative, the program provides grants to organizations offering breast cancer health promotion, screening and treatment to indigent women.
Grant amounts range from $25,000 to $50,000 for screening projects and up to $200,000 for treatment projects. Community organizations that applied for treatment grants were required to demonstrate strong, comprehensive partnerships with various health care providers to provide breast cancer services to underserved populations.
